During a press conference, U.S. Attorney E. Martin Estrada revealed that the suspects include Perry’s personal assistant, two doctors, and a North Hollywood woman infamously known as “the Ketamine Queen.”
According to an indictment unsealed in Los Angeles federal court, Perry's assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, along with Erik Fleming, an acquaintance of Perry, collaborated with doctors Salvador Plasencia and Mark Chavez to obtain large quantities of ketamine for Perry in the weeks leading up to his fatal overdose. Jasveen Sangha, dubbed “the Ketamine Queen,” is also accused of supplying Perry with the drug.

The indictment highlights Plasencia’s view of Perry as a financial opportunity, citing text messages sent to Chavez about a month before the actor’s death. In one message, Plasencia referred to Perry as “a moron” and wondered how much money they could make from him. Another message read, “Let’s find out.”
Plasencia allegedly administered ketamine to Perry on several occasions, including one visit where he reportedly injected 360 milligrams of the drug over an hour. The indictment also states that Plasencia taught Iwamasa how to inject Perry with ketamine and provided him with a supply of the drug and syringes for $4,500. In early October 2023, Iwamasa allegedly ordered eight vials of ketamine from Plasencia, disguising the order by referring to them as “8 bottles of Dr Pepper.”

On October 12, 2023, Plasencia reportedly gave Perry a large dose of ketamine, which unexpectedly caused severe physical reactions, according to the indictment. As Plasencia's supply dwindled, Perry's associates turned to Sangha, who claimed to have a "master chef" producing ketamine for her. Sangha allegedly provided Perry with ketamine lollipops as a bonus due to the volume of his purchases.
In the days leading up to Perry's death, Iwamasa allegedly administered at least 15 ketamine injections to Perry, all sourced from Sangha. On October 28, 2023, the day Perry was found dead in his hot tub, Iwamasa is said to have given him the final three doses, using needles supplied by Plasencia.
Later that day, Sangha reportedly messaged Fleming on Signal, instructing him to "delete all our messages."
Authorities executed search warrants, seizing computers, phones, and other electronic devices to identify those responsible for supplying the drug that led to Perry’s overdose.

Initially, after a medical examiner ruled Perry’s death an accidental drowning last year, the case was considered closed. However, nearly seven months later, a federal and local investigation was launched to uncover the sources of the ketamine that caused Perry's death.
The investigation, involving the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service (USPIS), was confirmed by the LAPD in May.
An early toxicology report from December 2023 confirmed that Perry died from the “acute effects of ketamine,” which led to his drowning. Sources close to the actor indicated that he was undergoing ketamine infusion therapy for depression and anxiety.

The autopsy, released in December, revealed that the concentration of ketamine in Perry’s system was consistent with levels used for general anesthesia. However, his last infusion therapy session had taken place over a week before his death, and the coroner noted that the ketamine present in Perry's body could not have originated from that session, given the drug’s short half-life of three to four hours.
The news of Perry’s death last year deeply saddened the entertainment world. Perry was best known for his role as Chandler Bing on the hit show "Friends," a character beloved for his dry wit and humor.
In the wake of the tragedy, Perry's co-stars—Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer, and Lisa Kudrow—released a joint statement expressing their grief. They wrote: “We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just castmates. We are a family. There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss. In time, we will say more, as and when we are able. For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.”
