Lego has unveiled its newest Nintendo collaboration at San Diego Comic-Con: a pixelated Mario and Yoshi from the 16-bit Super Nintendo classic, Super Mario World. This 2D display piece, like Lego’s Art sets, features hidden mechanisms that bring Yoshi to life.

The 1,215-piece set stands over 15 inches tall when assembled, depicting Mario with a yellow cape riding Yoshi on a grassy hill. The front showcases a detailed recreation of the 16-bit sprites from Super Mario World.
Turning the set around reveals why it's designed as a display piece. Lego’s designers included mechanisms to replicate the game’s sprite animations. A crank on the base makes Yoshi’s legs move in a running loop, while a knob on the back opens his mouth and extends his bright red tongue.
The Lego Super Mario World: Mario & Yoshi set is available for preorder today through Lego’s online store for $129.99 and will ship on October 1st. It’s the fifth adult-focused set in Lego and Nintendo’s collaboration, joining the NES console, Mighty Bowser, Piranha Plant, and transforming question mark block sets.
