Warner Bros. Discovery and Disney have teamed up to offer a new streaming bundle, combining Disney+, Hulu, and Max at a discounted price. Announced on Thursday, the bundle is available to new and returning subscribers for $16.99 per month with ads, or $29.99 per month without ads, representing up to 38% savings compared to subscribing to each service individually.

Currently, the lowest-priced Max plan is $9.99 per month with ads, and Disney+ with Hulu is also offered at $9.99 per month with ads.
Subscribers to this new bundle will enjoy a wide variety of programming, including HBO, ABC, CNN, Discovery, Food Network, FX, HGTV, Hulu, Pixar, and Star Wars content. Notably, it brings together Warner Bros.’ DC and Disney’s Marvel under one package.
The bundle's launch aims to attract and retain subscribers amidst fierce competition from larger streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. WBD's CEO, David Zaslav, highlighted that bundling content increases family engagement and reduces subscriber churn.
The new bundle mirrors the traditional cable television model, offering multiple channels for one monthly fee. Disney already provides a bundle including Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ at a discounted rate. Verizon also offers a subscription pairing Netflix and Max’s ad-supported tiers for $10 per month, with an option to add Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN for an additional $10.

Smaller streaming platforms have faced challenges in retaining subscribers in the crowded market, which includes NBC’s Peacock, Paramount+, and Apple TV+. Recently, Peacock lost 500,000 subscribers in the latest quarter.
Additionally, new entrants like Hallmark are launching standalone streaming platforms, with Hallmark+ set to debut ahead of the holiday season. Disney, WBD, and Fox Corp. are also introducing a sports streaming service, Venu, this fall, which will feature ESPN, TNT, Fox Sports, and other assets.
Disney CEO Bob Iger stated, “We’ve watched for years the decline of the linear bundle on cable and satellite and we’ve been preparing for a world where that business is not as strong as it used to be. I’d rather be a disruptor than to be disrupted.”
