The Mirage Hotel & Casino will close on July 17, 2024, in order to start the process of being transformed into the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and Guitar Hotel Las Vegas (HRHCLV), according to a statement released by Hard Rock International (HRI).
An almost 700-foot-tall hotel in the shape of a guitar will be a main feature of the new integrated resort, situated right on the Las Vegas Strip.
Jim Allen, Chairman of Hard Rock International, said, "We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Las Vegas community and our team members for their warm welcome and support throughout our 34 years at The Mirage." "We also thank the Gaming Commission, local and state government agencies, unions, and community leaders for their fair and supportive negotiations over the past year. We would especially like to thank MGM for helping us during our move."
"While we prepare for this incredible transformation, we thank all team members for their commitment to providing memorable experiences for our guests," said Joe Lupo, President of The Mirage. To help our bright team members find new positions, we intend to work with other employers in Las Vegas."
It is anticipated that the HRHCLV project will generate approximately 2,500 new construction employment in addition to double The Mirage's current workforce. Hard Rock has decided to offer eligible employees who stay on the site until its closure severance payouts of about $80 million.
After July 14, 2024, guests' reservations and show tickets will be automatically canceled and refunded. If a person made a reservation through a third party, they should be contacted directly for refunds or rescheduled.
The Hard Rock Cafe located on The Strip will continue to operate.
